Venice Palazzo Tour: Castello On Canal (Video)
Five minutes from the Ponte di Rialto and Piazza San Marco, elegant restored apartment on the first floor of a 17th-century historic palazzo in the Castello district, Venice. The property (85 sqm) is made up of an ample living room with cooking corner, a studio/bedroom, double bedroom, and bathroom. The building was recently restored and improved with the restoration of the private bridge, the porta dโacqua and the beautiful entrance hall.
Castello, Venice, covers a large vibrant area, with one section bordering St. Markโs Square and dotted with luxury hotels. Farther from St. Mark’s, the neighborhood gets more laid-back, with casual bars where locals stop in for a glass of wine. Shops and eateries catering to all budgets line buzzing Via Garibaldi. In alternating years, the Giardini della Biennale park hosts the Biennale exhibition of contemporary art.ย

Kathmandu, Nepal’s capital, is set in a valley surrounded by the Himalayan mountains. At the heart of the old cityโs mazelike alleys is Durbar Square, which becomes frenetic during Indra Jatra, a religious festival featuring masked dances. Many of the city’s historic sites were damaged or destroyed by a 2015 earthquake. Durbar Square’s palace, Hanuman Dhoka, and Kasthamandap, a wooden Hindu temple, are being rebuilt.ย

Overlooking the village is Babadaฤ mountain from where paragliders take to the skies. The Lycian Way is a long-distance marked footpath starting in รlรผdeniz, and has coastal views. To the south, Butterfly Valley is a nature reserve with a secluded bay.ย

Seisho-ji is a temple located in the Toronomon Hills area of central Tokyo. It is part of the Soto sect of Zen Buddhism and moved to its location on Mount Atago in 1600. It sits among a complex of other Buddhist temples and a Shinto Shrine. The various temples are separated by a set of gardens that wrap in and out of a wealthy urban high-rise office setting.โ
At the Seisho-ji temple itself, resident monks offer zazen orientation for any level of meditator. Timing is flexible while the temple is open (9:00-17:00). It depends on temple’s schedule; please contact staff (contact below).

Monteriggioni is a walled town in Tuscany, Italy, known for its medieval fortifications and watchtowers. The castle walls offer views of the surrounding Chianti region. The old town is accessed via the Porta Franca gate. Nearby are the Monteriggioni in Arme Museum, with replicas of ancient weapons, and the 13th-century Church of Santa Maria. To the east, Chianti Sculpture Park displays contemporary artworks.ย

The Torre di Pulcinella is a clock tower topped by a figure of the Pulcinella, a commedia dellโarte character. On the Piazza Grande is the 14th-century Palazzo Comunale, with a tower offering views of the surrounding countryside. Also here is the Duomo, with a huge triptych above its altar.

From giant icecaps far south to bone-dry deserts further north – I traveled 20.000 km across Chile, Argentina, Bolivia and Peru for six months and was blown away by the variety of landscapes on this continent.
But one thing I found that all these climate zones have in common are those massive mountains rising high above their lands. May it be the majestic granite walls of Patagonia, perfectly shaped volcanos in the Atacama desert or some of the high alpine peaks of the Peruvian highlands.
Even though it only captures very few of them, this short timelapse film is a tribute to all those lone peaks in South America. There is still so many more to discover and photograph.
